Lot consists of: Serial numbers 034DT and 035DT. Barry Lee Hands is arguably the most talented and in-demand living, current master engraver; his expertise in this field is above reproach, having studied his craft on five continents. He has invented at least eight techniques with regard to engraving that are recognized worldwide. The demand for his masterpieces continues unabated and his works reside in many of the most prestigious collections, both private and public; the quality of workmanship and attention to detail is unsurpassed in the world of engraving. His awards and accolades could fill a volume in itself; to own a Barry Hands engraved firearm is to own the best, both past and present. A matched pair of Turnbull pre-World War II finish Single Action Armies embellished in 1993, that feature D coverage engraving by Barry Lee Hands which you can find signed under the barrels and inside the grip straps. The one-piece eagle carved ivory grips were done by master carver Dan Chesiak. These two revolvers are featured in the books "The Colt Engraving Book" Volumes I and II by R.L. Wilson, page 728 (Vol. II). Besides the beautiful 19th century scroll engraving, you will find gold bands on both ends of each barrel and back of cylinders. Finished with case colored hammers and frame with high polish blue on balance of weapons. Each with fluted cylinders. Top of the backstraps have the Colt dome engraving and backstraps have gold signature of Sam Colt. All screw heads are engraved and fire blued. The final finish was applied by world renowned master Doug Turnbull. CONDITION: All legends are sharp. Both retain 100% of the custom finish; as new condition and unfired. Grips are near mint. Actions were not tested due to possible wear. Bores are mirror bright. They are as fine as anything ever done at the Colt factory, if not finer. Both revolvers include their original blue boxes with white liners; the books on Colt engraving, Volumes I and II by R.L. Wilson. Finished and adorned by the world's greatest masters. They are, simply put, superb. These books regularly sell for $1,000 a set.
