Winchester Factory Cut-A Way saleman sample of the Winchester Model 12 shotgun. From the estate collection of Winchester Custom Shop gunsmith William Smith, who was noted as a chief gunsmith for the Winchester Model 21. Blue finished with varnished walnut stocks with checkered black plastic buttplate with Winchester monogram in center. Manufactured with viewing ports factory machined into the receiver to expose the operation of the cartridge elevator, bolt disconnector, hammer and sear, locking bolt , slide/bolt linkage, magazine cartridge stop, and the extractor mechanism on both sides. The forearm has been cutaway to expose the full length steel forearm assembly. These factory cutaways were used by Winchester salesmen to show the superior workmanship and simpler operation of their product. This example is dated to 1937 by serial number. CONDITION: Very fine with some very minor handling marks and most all metal and wood finishes remain. Mechanically fine
