Museum quality Winchester Model 1873 rifle Musket with bright steel factory socket bayonet. Brilliant blue finished metal with vividly case colored hammer. lever and butt plate. Blade mounted post front sight with Military pattern slide adjustable rear sight graduated to 800 yards. Niter blue finish loading gate. Straight grained oil finished walnut stocks with 3 forearm retaining bands and factory mounted sling swivels. Carbine/ musket pattern steel butt plate with trap for 4 piece cleaning rod. The Winchester Model 1873 was a commercial success with large quantities sold in South America and to the former Russian Empire. Most saw extensive use and are found in only good or poorer condition. This Museum quality example would be difficult to improve upon. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine with metal retaining over 97% brilliant blue with some extremely minor edge losses and several minor scratches from storage or handling. The bore is brilliant and sharp. The wood is exceptionally fine with some very minute period impressions. The case colors are vivid and brilliant. Mechanically excellent with little if any use evident.
