Lot #2115:
(C) WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 HIGH WALL WINDER MUSKET SINGLE SHOT RIFLE.
Dates to 1917. Developed by Colonel C.B. Winder and offered from 1904 through 1920. This single shot has the military style walnut full length forearm, a walnut butt stock with metal carbine butt plate, swivels, one barrel band, a blued round barrel with dovetailed bead on base front sight, a military style ladder rear barrel sight and revealing the Winchester legends on barrel and upper tang. CONDITION: Very good. The barrel still displays the majority of its blue finish exhibiting nominal handling marks and high edge muzzle wear. The frame is now a grey patina. The forearm is excellent with minor impressions. The stock would be excellent except for a 4" missing piece on left side at tang that shows some stud repairs. Mechanically sound with a defined thinning bore with some frosting.
