Registered by, “Collector’s Corner” as a destructive device, what sets this mortar apart from others is not only the superb condition but especially the presence of extremely desirable accessories and munitions which will enable to owner to fire it for recreation. There is a video on Forgottenweapons.com where Ian is firing this very same mortar. Marked with “Flieger” number and Nazi eagle proofs, this is an extremely attractive mortar. It comes in its original wooden transit box with base plate and original muzzle cover. Accessories include an original gunner’s tool and lubrication kit with specialized wrench, three spare replacement firing pin receptacles, one spare firing pin, and original metal carrying box with ten inert non-explosive original projectiles with included plugs at the tips. An additional original projectile with 1937 dated tip is also included along with an original shipping tube. Original tin box with 18 spare firing pins, and 8 pin receptacles is also included as well as a 1943 dated Nazi proofed projectile tip, and two projectile tip shipping plugs. The real prize of this lot is a U.S. G.I. Ammo can filled with numerous original “RWS” (look like 28 Gauge shotgun blanks) projectile cartridges. One needs only insert them into the projectiles at the bottom, drop the projectile into the tube, and then pull the actuator to discharge them into the air. Loads of Fun ! Electronic NFA registry indicates, “COLLECTOR’S CORNER” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance is extremely fine to near excellent attractive original smooth deep blue finish on tube thinning to a grey patina with some loss of finish at a couple of the high edges. Attractive red bakelite handle intact and serviceable baseplate retains its original paint with some loss showing red-brown primer underneath. Tube bore is extremely clean. Practice rounds are covered with brown scale with remnants of original paint. Carrier also in original paint with brown patina, yet still strong and serviceable. Original transit box in original paint and although it has some grain checks to the wood, it remains very serviceable and attractive. These are great fun at the range in addition to being collector’s items. No telling when, is ever, there will be another set like this surface for public sale. The absolute best, most complete specimen this cataloger has ever seen. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS A DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE. JWK 2025-05-079.
