Hungarian hunter, Joseph Szecsei, was charged by three elephants simultaneously. He survived. As a result of this encounter he decided that the two shots offered by the typical double rifle were not enough, and that the added capacity of a normal bolt action rifle was hampered by the time it took for each successive shot. So ... he designed this rifle, a bolt action double, giving two almost instantaneous shots with another two ready with one bolt operation and no need to take your eyes off the game. With a pair "up the spout" a full magazine gives a total of 8 shots. These rifles are built in Austria, and exhibit exquisite quality. Double barrels are 23 - 1/2" long and are fitted with quarter rib holding one standing, two folding leaf express rear sights. Gold bead is in matching front ramp. Caliber (.416 Remington Magnum) is engraved on mid rib. In order to save weight receiver is of titanium and is intricately machined to accept double box magazine, and has integral scope mount. Intricate engine turned double bolt mechanism has six locking lugs at rear, with pear shaped bolt knob and forward/ reverse safety on right side. Bolt release is a push button on bottom tang in front of trigger guard. Rifle is fitted with double triggers and trigger guard tang extends to steel grip cap in classic fashion. Nicely marbled and stump figured European walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 14 - 3/4" over brown open sided Uncle Mike's pad. To accommodate this wide action, stock styling is a bit unusual, however stock sports a classic right hand cheekpiece, well cut borderless checkering with fleur-di-lis intrusions at grip and forend. Forend tip is of crotch figured walnut. A sling eye on toe line matches that on bottoms of barrels. Rifle is mounted with Swarovski Habicht 1.5 - 4 30mm scope with three post and central crosshair reticle, in specially designed 1 piece QD ring set. Double stack magazines have latches on both sides to insure against inadvertent loss. Weight without scope, with magazine: 13 lbs 5 oz. CONDITION: Excellent with evidence of light field use, perhaps one safari. Metal retains approximately 95%+ original blue, with some light scratches and silvering of sharp edges. Stock has a number of minor marks and dents in its original finish, checkering lightly worn. There is evidence of light recoil compression on left side of stock behind recoil bolt. Bores are excellent. Action is very smooth. Scope is excellent with some marks on exterior, optically clear. You'd be the only one on the block with one of these. This rifle handles surprisingly well, and the concept does have considerable merit for dangerous game. MGM 126
