This is an Auto Ordnance Bridgeport manufactured Thompson in a reproduction hard case with unnumbered original “New York, N.Y., USA” 50 round drum with nickel rotor. Also includes one unmarked, one 1920 patent date, and two Bridgeport 20 round magazines. The consignor designed and machined a front sight which faithfully matched the height and position of where the original sight would be on this gun and looks appropriate to the gun, except that the newly machined piece has extended threads which are designed to take Knight’s Armament MK23USP suppressor as manufactured for the H&K 23 pistol. In short, this gun is equipped with an included new-in-box MK23/USP CAL. 45 silencer. The consignor retained the silencer he had been using with this gun. The original front sight/compensator for this gun is not present. Gun is marked with on receiver with typical Auto-Ordnance Bridgeport markings on right side. On left side the “US” in front of “Model" has been removed, as well as the “1” of A1 and a “C” has been substituted. “AO” has been added before the serial number as on so many other Thompsons. NFA registery shows “Auto Ordnance” as manufacturer with serial number as it appears on this firearm. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine grey refinish on receiver with somewhat more lustrous finish on a “S” marked Savage replacement barrel which has some loss of finish to a gray patina towards the muzzle. Buttplate finish thinning to a gray patina at high edges. Wood is extremely fine with a rich brown color and light handling marks. Drum has an extremely fine dull matte refinish. Magazines have extremely fine lustrous original finish. Mechanics are fine. Bore has shiny lands, turning dark in the grooves. This is a select fire machine gun. Knights Armament Suppressor is new in box. The Thompson needs no introduction the machine gun enthusiast. It is an American icon. The addition of a silencer as an accessory was and is a brilliant idea! THESE ARE NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEMS AND REQUIRE BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THE MACHINE GUN IS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. SUPPRESSOR WILL TRANSFER SEPARATELY. BOTH ITEMS ARE FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON ATF FORMS 3 OR 4. JWK 2019-10-134
