Auto Ordnance Corporation manufactured Model 1928A1 Thompson with replacement barrel and Lyman marked adjustable sight. Accessories include a refinished, “AUTO-ORDNANCE CORP. / BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT” address 50-round drum with “U” proof in unmarked carrier, 2 30-round "U.S. Cartridge Co" magazines, and a Kerr sling. Also included are 3 manuals: Original TM 9-215 Technical Manual for 1928A1 Thompson dated March 1, 1942, a later, somewhat smaller version of same with same nomenclature, and Edition of 1940, Handbook of the Thompson from Auto-Ordnance corporation. This is an "A.O." (Auto Ordnance) prefix serial number gun. Lower assembly serial number matches. Horizontal foregrip. Auto-Ordnance marked Cutts compensator with diamond logo on top and bullet logo on left side. Left side of receiver marked "U.S. Model 1928 A1" above serial number. “THOMPSON SUBMACHINE GUN”, “CALIBRE .45 AUTOMATIC CARTRIDGE”, Right hand receiver markings are typical “AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION” with Bridgeport address. Electronic NFA registry indicates “AUTO ORDNANCE” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent smooth matte gray blue refinish on metal parts with the sight, trigger, magazine catch, selector, safety, bolt, and actuator retaining their original blued finish. Barrel index mark does not match up to receiver, indicating it is a replacement. This is typical of replacement barrels on WWII arsenal rebuild guns, and does not in any way affect function. Buttplate has a smooth lustrous finish and is quite nice. Drum has a matte gray blue refinish consistent with the gun. Stick magazines have a near excellent lustrous blue finish. Wood furnishings are extremely fine and attractive with some slight handling marks. Drum carrier is in near mint condition and unmarked. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. Just the kind Thompson that many are looking for. Able to accept both drum magazines and stick magazines, and ready to take to the range. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2023-9-56
