MP40 submachine gun manufactured by Charles Erb of Fredericktown, Pennsylvania from original World War II production parts and components on a newly fabricated receiver tube. The lower assembly is stamped "MP40/ ayf 43", indicating manufacture by Erma, with the magazine housing bearing a single Erma "(Eagle)/ WaA254" waffenamt. Remaining components, including the barrel, barrel nut, and bolt assembly, bear Steyr "(Eagle)/ WaA623" waffenamts. Rear sight base is a contemporary replacement. This example is accompanied by a reproduction 3-cell khaki canvas magazine pouch containing 3 spare magazines. CONDITION: Very good overall, with the receiver retaining the vast majority of its original blue finish, exhibiting some areas of mild wear and thinning that show through to a gray patina. Original surplus components exhibit wear and thinning that shows through to a pleasant brown patina, with the magazine housing exhibiting surface-level oxidation overall. Dark bore, retaining poor fair rifling throughout. A range ready example of a Charles Erb manufactured MP40 submachine gun.
