Utterly fabulous Colt commercial Model 1919 B.A.R. machine gun with the very first Colt commercial “C-1” serial number and Feb 4, 1919 patent date. The rifle is in configuration as would have been procured and issued to the United States Cavalry as a Model of 1922. This includes clamp-on bipod, and adjustable monopod. Unmarked cooling fin barrel and early type flash-hider makes this an immediately recognizable specimen. One lustrous blue finish magazine is included with this gun. This gun retains has a checkered wood forend, uncheckered buttstock, a first style gas regulator, and "F A S" selector markings. Electronic NFA registry indicates “COLT” as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: Collection of Lawrence B. “Smitty” Smith of Cabin John, Maryland, and most recently in the collection of a very advanced collector who wishes to remain anonymous as he draws down his collection. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent correct lustrous finish with some very slight handling marks and a bit of finish loss at the high edges. Wood has some very light handling marks and is unsanded. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. If you want one of the very best Browning Automatic Rifles registered for private ownership, this one certainly fits the category. A gun for the discerning and forward-thinking collector/investor.
