This Cadillac Gage Stoner is among the most important and scarce of the Vietnam War machine gun collectibles available for private ownership. There are only a few original Cadillac Gage Stoner machine guns in the National Firearms act registry which are fully transferable to individuals and this is one of them. Research has revealed that this is a gun that was manufactured on 11/18/1965 and sent to the United States Marine Corps on 1/12/1966. Returned to Cadillac Gage on 8/30/1966 and then sent to the St. Clair Shore Police Department in St. Clair Shore, Michigan on 2/5/1968. Since that time it has passed through the hands of Dr. Leon Mitchell in Massachusetts and later to Ralph Merrill in Utah. The United States Marine Corps returned 286 rifles to Cadillac Gage in August of 1966. Almost all of these were destroyed by them, but a very few were saved and sent to law enforcement agencies in Michigan, California, and New York. This is the only one that was sent to the St. Clair Shore Police Department. The Stoner was originally designed in 1963 and is a landmark design for a modular weapons system which can be a rifle, carbine, light box magazine fed machine gun, belt-fed machine gun, or vehicle mounted machine gun. A few of these original guns saw service in Vietnam in the hands of the Navy and Marine Corps. This is a magazine fed select fire specimen and includes four original Stoner marked magazines, an original vintage Stoner two-magazine pouch, and one black web sling. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original factory black hardcoat and matte blue finish. Composite furnishings extremely fine to near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is near excellent shiny and bright. Bolt face near excellent. This is a select fire machine gun. Fantastic opportunity for the serious U.S. Military machine gun private collector. When will another gun combining such condition and detailed pedigree including U.S. Military service surface for sale? THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2019-10-155 CORRECTION: The model line above the serial number is a typo. This is NOT a Model 63A, this is a Model 63 as stated in the Title.
