This is an Auto Ordnance rebuild gun after return from World War II with “U.S.” marking neatly removed from in front of “Model” on left side of receiver. Original marking was, “U.S. Model 1928 AC”. Subsequently, and now marked “Model 1928 A1” with the “1” overstamping the “C”. Likewise, the original serial number was “153052”, but upon rebuild the serial number is now, “A. O. 153052X” Otherwise left hand receiver markings are, “THOMPSON AUTOMATIC MACHINE GUN”, “CALIBRE .45 AUTOMATIC CARTRIDGE” clearly visible underneath the dull gray finish of the receiver. Right hand receiver markings are typical “AUTO – ORDNANCE” with Bridgeport address. Barrel is a extremely fine lustrous blue replacement with horizontal wood. Lower assembly is numbered, “A O 153052” and is unquestionably original and matching to the upper. Attractive wooden buttstock is marked with a solitary “8” pressed into the wood at the forward edge below where the hardware fits onto the lower assembly. One 20 round Bridgeport magazine is included. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine to near excellent with deep lustrous blue finish on barrel, actuator, and magazine. Buttplate finish thinning to an even gray patina. Receiver retains nearly all of a dull gray refinish. Bore is near excellent shiny and bright. Bolt face very fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. A very nice specimen of a factory rebuild. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
