Colt M16A1 marked "Property of U.S. Govt" over "M16A1" followed by "CAL 5.56 MM" over the serial number. This gun is in the early 5 million serial number range, which places it in the 1970s vintage. Many (now retired) U.S. military personnel including this cataloger carried identical specimens during their military service and will recognize the curved edge buttplate, triangular handguards, chrome lined bore, and windage adjustable only rear sight. No magazine present. Electronic registry indicates “COLT” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent original finish with light handling marks. Bore near excellent shiny and bright. Bolt face near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. A true classic military M-16.
