This Thompson has interesting serial number 1234, and was originally sold to the Pocahontas Coal Operators Association and later passed into the possession of the William Douglas Military Museum in Florida. Gordon Herigstad's serial number listing of serial numbers and histories indicates, "Lawrence Heiskell collection, Virginia 1999". This gun retains its original 1921 internal parts and correctly "anchor" marked original buttstock. Typical markings on receiver with visible serial numbers matching. Crisp clear lettering and sharp edges throughout. 4 lustrous blue 20-round "Bridgeport" magazines, a matte finish "New York, NY" 50-round drum, and original purple felt hard case with 20 1/2" brass cleaning rod, nickel oiler, and reproduction tin parts box is included. Electronic NFA registry indicates "COLT" as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: From the estate of a very discerning and advanced collector. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent deep lustrous blue original finish with some loss of finish to gray and brown patina in places, most particularly at the upper left side top edge of the upper receiver and just a little spot at the upper right edge of the upper receiver. Buttplate also has some areas of gray and brown patina. Actuator slot has almost no loss of finish, indicating this gun has been shot very little. Wood is extremely attractive, unsanded, and near excellent with some very light handling marks. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. Magazines and drum have near excellent finish. Original hard case is extremely fine to near excellent. Even with the loss of finish on the upper receiver this remains a very desirable and scarce example of an unmodified 1921A Thompson. A fine ensemble for the Thompson collector. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2023-12-79
