Very desirable near mint PolyTech AKS-223 with side-folding metal stock converted to the popular 7.62x39mm caliber. Classic Kalashnikov design with attractive laminated wood handguard. Includes one 30-round stamped steel magazine. Serial number indicates 1985 year of manufacture. Imported by “KENG’S FIREARM SPECIALITY”, as marked on underside of receiver forward of magazine well. Quite a number of these guns were manufactured in .223 and imported into the United States with the impression that the .223 chambering would be popular. This was not the case and many guns, like this one, were converted to 7.62x39mm. Electronic NFA registry indicates “FORM 2 REGISTRATION” as the manufacturer. Incoming NFA Form indicates “Polytechnolgies Inc” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent satin blue finish upon remanufacture with a handling mark or two on the wood. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. Just about as nice a specimen of its kind as one could ever hope to find of the most widely recognized and used assault rifle design in the world.
