Manufactured by “AUTO-ORDNANCE CORPORATION/BRIDGEPORT,CONNECTICUT U.S.A.” as marked on right side of receiver with “GEG” and “FJA” visible on left side of receiver as well as US Ordnance crossed cannon proof just above magazine well. Marked “S” on underside of receiver forward of magazine well, which indicates Savage Arms Company manufacture. Barrel has been fitted with an unmarked Cutts compensator for recreational shooting, however also included is a mint spare barrel, front sight with retaining pin, which could be fitted if the new owner desires, and also spare pivot plate. This M1A1 model of the Thompson machine was mass produced for the US military during World War II and accepts only stick magazines. One “SW CO”, two 30-rnd "SEYMOUR PRODUCTS CO" magazines and two Auto-Ordnance Bridgeport magazines are included with this lot. High quality construction and materials throughout, the Thompson machine guns made during this era at Bridgeport are the most durable of their kind. Parts are relatively common and these guns hold a special place in the collector community, appealing to the World War II military collector as well as the recreational shooter. Electronic NFA registry indicates “THOMPSON” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is extremely fine to near excellent original matte grey arsenal refinish over some light pitting on the magazine latch. Otherwise there is some slight thinning to the finish along the high edges. Wood is extremely fine to near excellent with a couple light dings and some handling marks. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select-fire machine gun. A great specimen of a true American military classic World War II Thompson M1A1 machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
