November 17 & 18, 2021 Extraordinary Firearms
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/17/2021
Very interesting, and one might say expedient, .45 ACP machine gun which bears a passing resemblance to the classic Thompson, even to the extent of using a detachable Thompson shoulder stock, and finely made Lyman adjustable rear sight. Investment casting lower assembly which still shows the sand casting marks, with a wooden reproduction vertical foregrip assembly attached to a perforated shroud. All of the Spitfire receivers were originally built and marked for semi-auto and these manufacturer’s markings and serial number are on the right side of receiver. This gun fires from an open bolt that cocks in the same manner as the M3A1 Grease gun. The bolt actually rides on two rails within the receiver. This gun takes standard US M3 Grease gun mags and one magazine is included with this lot. Electronic NFA registry indicates “SPITFIRE MFG CO” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish are very fine, deep lustrous blue finish on receiver tube and barrel with flat black finish on the lower receiver. Wooden buttstock is extremely fine with some handling marks and steel buttplate slightly misfitted at the toe which does not in any way affect serviceability. This is a full-auto only machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. JWK 2021-11-060
