Absolutely stunning condition Mauser manufactured MG42 machine gun marked “D.F.” and “ar” which indicates 1944 manufacture by Mauser. Other Nazi proof marks in evidence are “bpr” (Grossfuss) on shroud, “cos” (Eickhorn) on top cover, and “ar” on roller lock frame, “dfb” (Maget) on un-numbered barrel, with Nazi proofs on other many other parts including, but not limited to bipod, feed tray, handgrip, buffer, and rear sight. Bolt has had the number scrubbed from the head and body with “ghj” prrof and is likely post-war with anti-bolt bounce assembly within. Feed tray is numbered “8909j”. Butt is a mint condition rich brown postwar replacement with added proofmarks. Anti-aircraft flip-up post not fitted to rear sight. Original WW2 vintage leather sling included, as well as highly desirable and early (1942) original Nazi manufactured “fsu” marked WW2 tripod. Also included is redacted copy of amnesty registration form. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent as refinished in true to original lustrous deep blue with some light scratches visible under the blue. Muzzle, bipod, feed tray, handgrip, buffer, and buffer cup do not appear to be refinished. Top cover and buffer cup exhibit more of a dull blue finish. Buttstock is superbly attractive. Dark brown/black grips near excellent with some light handling marks. Sling very strong, supple and serviceable. Tripod retains about 50% of its original panzer Gray paint with scattered light corrosion at exposed areas. Bore of gun is near excellent. Bolt is also near excellent with minty bolt face and extractor. Mechanics are crisp. This is a fully-automatic only machine gun. Absolutely stunning specimen in fantastic condition. Refinish work may well be vintage from the period as it is that faithful to the original. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
