Andrew Gumpf worked in Lancaster, Pennsylvania from 1843 to 1875. Stamped "A. Gompf Lancaster, Pa", this is one signed with this variation of his signature. Rifle has percussion lock with double set triggers. Full curly maple stock with brass furniture including four piece engraved patchbox with five piercings. Six German silver inlays including flat key barrel shields. Checkered wrist carving and toe release for patchbox. CONDITION: Overall fine aged patina with barrel probably shortened at one point in life. Mechanically sound. Wood worn from usage with no obvious repairs.
