According to Doug Eberhart, these pistols were made by Gillespie of New York and sold by a hardware store by the name of Haws & Waggoner, which was located in Columbia, South Carolina. Of standard Philadelphia Deringer form with engraved German silver mounts. The hammer is engraved, as is lock. Back action lock with German silver tear drop inlay. Checkered full stock, pineapple finials holding barrel wedge. Research in Stockell, Sellers, and internet reveals no record of "Haws and Waggoner." Further research is dictated by the fortunate purchaser of this interesting Philadelphia style Deringer. CONDITION: Action functions. Rifled bore is fair. From the Robert Sadler Collection.
