Flattened and flared butt depicting two more tricorned soldiers firing pistols at each other from horses on one side, opposite side depicting the soldier on the left falling off his horse after being shot. Slightly upraised buttcap with floral. CONDITION: Very good. Metal has been cleaned in the European fashion over old oxidation, leaving spotting throughout. Engraving is crisp and attractive. One chip is missing out of the bottom of the pan. Wood has been sanded and revarnished, leaving it shy to metal but still crisp. One piece of wood is missing behind the lock. Wood has other pressure marks throughout but otherwise free of cracks. Much of the gold inlay at barrel has lifted. Action works appropriately when cycled by hand, bore is excellent, smooth, with less oxidation than normally seen. EW
