This was the standard US issue pistol used during the Mexican American War and was the last US issue flintlock pistol. This example is dated 1842. It is standard in all respects including the swivel ramrod, iron hardware and furniture, a brass front sight blade and pan, and one piece walnut stock. The lock has the A. Waters Millbury "MS" stamp with eagle head and "1842". The left barrel breech has the "JH" inspector stamp with proof "P". Left side of stock sports two cartouche stamps in ovals. Mostly finished bright with case color lock. CONDITION: Fine and crisp. Case colors have faded to dark grey. Metal is clean and crisp with overall oxidation. Stocks are excellent and solid. Mechanically sound. Bore is fairly clean with light abrasions. A very clean example. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
