Jean-Louis Francois Devisme's shop was in Paris. He was awarded an Honorable Mention at the French Industrial Exposition of 1834. He won silver medals at the exhibitions of 1839 and 1841 and numerous awards at the World's Fairs from the 1840s to 1860s. He even built a pair of pinfire pistols for Napoleon III. We could not find another set of signal pistols having been offered. This matching pair of percussion pistols set into walnut stocks with checkered grips, blue barrels, case color frames, and locks with blue trigger guards. The top of each barrel is stamped "Devisme A Paris." CONDITION: Excellent. The checkered bag handle stocks are excellent, with a few scattered impressions and one 1/4" stress crack. The barrels retain 85% of their bright blue. The frames show strong evidence of case color. Bores are both fairly clean. Both are in working order. A very hard to find mid-19th century set. Comes with a wrench and wood tool. A never seen pair of early signal pistols. Both are in working order.
