(A) BURNSIDE SPENCER MODEL 1865 LEVER ACTION REPEATING CARBINE.
Built by Burnside under the Spencer agreement and widely used during the early Indian Wars. The Burnside Spencer legend is stamped on top of the frame at chamber. This example has the shorter barrel and 3-groove rifling. Standard features include the pinned blade-on-base front sight, folding ladder rear sight, saddle ring and bar, blue and case color finish, walnut stock with swivel and metal butt plate, along with the matching forearm with single band. CONDITION: Very good. All metal is now a pleasing grey patina. Stocks are solid with some nominal dings. Mechanically sound with a well defined bright bore.
