Probably Joseph Gilli of Luzern, a noted gunmaker circa 1798 through 1849. His name is engraved on both locks. Both guns features full octagon swamped barrels, dovetailed front sights, simple notched rear sights, checkered pistol grip walnut stocks with the fluted fore-end tips and engraved metal pommels. They are housed in a period wood case that includes a Sykes Patent copper powder flask, a steel single cavity bullet mold, wooden hammer, wood handle turn screw and some tins. Lining is faded and case needs work. CONDITION: Very good to fine. One of the two pistols is a grey oxidized patina with crisp edges. The stock is fine with scattered impressions. The other had the stock refinished and re-checkered and its metal was polished. The matched set guns are numbered 1 and 2 on tangs. Both are mechanically sound . The multi land and groove bores are well defined.
