Dates to 1863. No visible sub inspector US markings indicating that is is a scarce commercial model. All numbers are matching including the wedge. All of the main serial numbers show an "IP" stamp. This mark usual indicates I for Ivory and P for presentation. Would be logical to assume the original ivory grips were removed and is now fit with modern replaced walnut. The rebated cylinder shows the roll die Naval scene. Barrel has the one line Colt New York legend with Colts patent on frame. brass trigger guard and the iron back strap with stock cut. CONDITION: Very good. Naval scene in mostly still evident. There are still some flashes of blue but basically a soft homogenous crisp patina with sharp legends. The frame shows a few inclusions with some wiped on finish. Mechanically sound with strong half cock. Bore is strong with some abrasions.
