Lot #1338:
(A) COLT ARTILLERY MODEL SINGLE ACTION ARMY REVOLVER.
These were arsenal assembled and finished beginning in 1890 under Rinaldo Carr as the inspector. The only inspector stamp found is an RAC stamp under the barrel with the number scratched out. The frame is serial number 10301 which dates it to 1874. The trigger guard is number 7040, placing it in the Lot 7 Custer Range. Back strap reads 4?41 (second digit illegible), placing it in the lot 4 Custer Range. The cylinder is number 644 with proof P. The barrel exhibits the proper one line Colt legend. Left side of frame has the early two line patent legend. Grips are one piece walnut. Left side of frame has typical US stamp. Finish is blue and case color. The ejector head is the type 2 crescent shape. CONDITION: Very good. The barrel still retains bright blue where protected and the barrel legend is strong. Otherwise, there is virtually no existing finish and is now a smooth patina. Grips have some added varnish. Mechanically sound with a bright bore.
