First production with .28 caliber chambering and a sub 30,000 serial number. Octagonal barrel with heavily softened Colt legend across top, borderline illegible, with visible Maltese cross on right and "COLT .... 1855" Case colored rammer with round shaft on octagonal base. Smooth cylinder with no evidence of a cylinder scene, very faint serial number. Case colored hammer. Ivory grips are inscribed "Presented To Wmn Osborn May 22d 1860" on left side, and "By Hung Wak" on the right. With an assortment of early Chinese paraphernalia, including a crudely made knife in a sheath bound in wood, a clay tobacco pipe, a pipe without a head, and a pair of game pieces. CONDITION: Root was period refinished, with legends and engraving heavily softened, most to the point of disappearing. Appropriate age related spotting coming through blue, with silvering to high edges and scattered throughout. Case colors muted with traces visible. Ephemera is good with expected age related distress. Knife has some binding loose and mossing on blade, with evidence of polish and sharpening.
