Made with Jones rotary underlever gun has wedge fastened splinter forend with engraved tip and iron. Hammer gun action is nicely scroll engraved in about 90% coverage and engraved on lock plates "John Lyell". Straight grip buttstock checkered in point pattern and terminates with a full steel buttplate. Housed in what appears to be its original two gun trunk oak and leather case with brass circle on top which is inscribed "Gen. Sir Harry Lumsden K.C. S.I. ABERDEEN" and at center "Belhelvie Lodge". Lumsden was an important General in the Anglo-Sikh War and this was his personal hunting gun. CONDITION: Fair. No original finish remains. Bores are poor with heavy pitting. Stocks with some checkering visible. Case is good with losses to leather and crackling. Mechanics are fine. Worthy of restoration for its historical intrigue. JSL
