Produced in 1888, this model 1877 double action revolver features factory engraving and gold plating and has two piece pearl grips. Between 1877 and 1897 only 31 double action .38 caliber revolvers were shipped with full gold plating. The four and a half inch barrel features a two line address and etched panel. The frame has a three line patent date. The gun is featured in the book "Colt & Its Collectors" pg.131. CONDITION: The engraving is all intact. The gold plating has loss into the grip straps and recoil shield, as well as the barrel. The bore is dark with light pitting throughout. The pearl grips are intact and free of cracks. The revolver is mechanically sound and functions correctly.
