The factory letter lists this gun as having been shipped on March 26, 1884 in a one gun shipment to J.C. Grubb Co, Philadelphia PA. as listed with 30" barrels, 8lbs, 12 gauge, blue finish, wood stocks and factory engraved (Grade 8) This prime example has the later and stronger dolls head rib extension, Damascus barrels with single brass bead front sight and displays manual extractors. The case color side lock frame features fine English style scroll engraving as do the hammers, fences and trigger guard. Also features the standard dual triggers and the round knob checkered walnut stock with Pony gutta percha butt plate, silver id plate as well as the matching checkered splinter forearm displaying the ebony inset. CONDITION: Excellent. The frame retains at least half its case color. The barrel reveals a lovely and crisp pattern and displays a soft homogenous patina. The Colt legends on rib and side plates are sharp. Stock is excellent showing some minor impressions and retaining the sharp checkering while the forearm does show a minor chip at left front. Mechanically sound and tight while retaining the bright bores.
