(A) FINE JOSLYN MODEL 1862 BREECH LOADING CARBINE
Manufactured for use in the Civil War. Blued barrel with blade front sight and 3-position rear sight graduated to 500 yards. Case hardened breech block stamped with 3-line patent as well as the serial number. Case hardened lock with 3-line address. Brass mounted walnut stock with saddle ring and bar. Left side has a pair of script "EF" inspection cartouches for Edward Flather. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel retains nearly all of its original blue with some mild spotting. Breech block and hammer have largely faded to patina with a few flashes of color. Lock displays bright colors. Stock appears lightly cleaned with largely legible cartouches. Brass was polished at some point and is now starting to develop patina. Crisp, bright bore. Fine mechanics. A very nice example.
