Lot #1076:
(A) FRENCH TAKEDOWN FLINTLOCK POACHER'S GUN
Circa 1750-1780. Octagonal breech section with a turned section to remove the round barrel. Barrel has spring-retained ramrod fitted into the barrel and mounted on a long tapered brass tip. French lock is unmarked. Walnut stock that unscrews at the wrist. Iron triggerguard and lock screw escutcheons. CONDITION: Barrel and lock retain a light brown patina with scattered minor pitting. Lock is in its original flintlock configuration and functions well. Stock shows some splintering, cracks and minor losses. A very interesting and rare conversation piece.
