It is estimated that 11984 of these revolvers were made for the government during the Civil War. This example has numerous inspector stamps but no visible cartouche on walnut grips. Features an octagonal barrel, thin blue finish, case colored hammer and lever, and distinctive double ring trigger where the ring cycles the cylinder into position and is fired with the plain trigger. Top of frame has the strong Savage legend. CONDITION: Very good. Fine working order. Grips are very good but shy to metal. Overall, metal retains approximately 20-30% thin blue with mixing patina, age freckling and spotting. No case color visible. Bore is sharp and clean. A fairly clean and working Civil War Savage.
