Bidding

Marked with the Remington legends atop the barrel. They were made from 1871 through 1888. This example is nickel plated and sports the two piece walnut grip panels, a wide spur case color hammer, and nitre blue small hammer. The period divided rosewood case houses a cartridge block and cleaning rod. The lid sports a pearl escutcheon and has a 4" silver presentation plaque that is engraved "William Moir New York". Possibly William Moir (1826–1896), a watchmaker and jeweler in New York City who constructed an opulent store downtown during the Gilded Age. CONDITION: Excellent. Retains nearly all of its nickel finish showing only nominal handling marks. The barrel address is crisp. The large hammer is a cocking mechanism while the small fire blue hammer is fully operational and retains its bright blue. Grips are excellent. Bore is bright.
