(A) INCISE CARVED LANCASTER FLINTLOCK FOWLER SIGNED P. GONTER.

The two-stage barrel features a front half moon sight and notched rear sight. The top flat of the barrel is stamped "P. GONTER" in block letters. The flat lockplate is stamped "DREPPERT" in the center. The brass furniture includes a flat classic Lancaster sideplate, engraved fowler trigger guard and a buttplate with three stage engraved tang. Walnut stock with incised scrolls on both sides of wrist. Brass nosecap. Ramrod appears to be period. CONDITION: Barrel retains a mostly brown patina, area around touchhole has been filled and filed. Signature very good. Lock is a good professional reconversion and retains a dark patina. Brass retains a pleasing mustard patina. Stock shows a few scattered marks from use and age cracks. One small crack stemming from back lock tang. A very nice Lancaster fowler / buck and ball gun. PROVENANCE: Ex. Castlerock Museum.
