Louis N. Walker was the foreman for the Remington Custom shop as well as a noted master barrel maker. There are several Walker Hepburn rifles known but this writer cannot find any other Walker custom shop No. 1 rifles. This rifle features a blued octagon to round barrel. Under the forearm is stamped "L.N. WALKER". The barrel is stamped "E. REMINGTON & SONS ILLION N.Y." on flat. The case color action has the six line patent stamps with date. The front barrel slot cut has a spirit level sight, no rear barrel cut, and mid-long range tang sight. The walnut butt stock features a checkered flared Marlin Ballard style pistol grip with ebony inset and a checkered horn butt plate. The forearm is checkered and features a horn forearm tip. CONDITION: Excellent. External frame colors have faded and patterned out. Barrel retains majority of the softening blue finish with sharp legends. The stock is excellent with some nominal dings and impressions. Mechanically sound with a bright bore. Numerous custom Remington shop details with the Walker barrel.
