Heavy 30-3/4” octagonal barrel stamped “J. ADAIR” on top flat in .52 caliber rifled bore, patent breech, long tang with hole for peep sight, later hooded front sight and no rear sight. Flat unmarked percussion lock. Figured walnut half stock with plain steel mounts, replaced wooden ramrod. Good condition with brown patina on barrel and lock with scattered lighter areas. Barrel has extra dovetail cutout forward of front sight and rear dovetail filled with fiberglass, three holes drilled near breech. Some furniture with brown patina and some components have been cleaned. Stock good with some age cracks and scattered marks from use; repair to stock, possibly done during period of use, from end of forend to center of lock on right side, 9-1/2” x 1-1/4”.
