Lot #1015:
(A) L.L. HEPBURN OVER/UNDER PERCUSSION COMBINATION GUN.
The top barrel of this well made superposed combination gun is stamped "L.L. HEPBURN / COLTON N.Y.". Lewis Hepburn worked in Colton from 1858 to 1882, mostly building percussion rifles including a variety of mulitbarrel guns. He would later work for Remington and Marlin, holding numerous firearms patents including those still used on Marlin lever actions. This combination gun has a browned rifle barrel over a smoothbore barrel with German silver blade front sight, elevation adjustable u-notch rear, and an additional tang mounted folding lollypop rear sight. Case hardened, back action percussion locks. Plain walnut stock with German silver mounts including patchbox. Includes hickory ram rods. CONDITION: Fine. Barrels have a homogenous chocolate patina with some evidence of older oxidation. Action has a mottled patina. Stock appears lightly cleaned with a few minor marks. Rifled bore is strong with some black powder abrasion. Fine mechanics.
