Comprising: (A) Steel mounted French flintlock pistol. Tapered round barrel with top flat, engraved lockplate marked "SAVGONDAINE" in center. Stock has relief carved panels around barrel tang, ramrod entry ferrule, lock and sideplate. Probably circa 1750. Pistol is in as found condition with dark patina on all steel components, all showing wear and scattered marks from use. Stock has several small areas of loss and is cracked through lock and sideplate. A very honest and original pre-Revolutionary War pistol in the black. Could very well have seen possible American use during the Revolutionary War. (B) Early 19th century continental flintlock pistol, probably French. Featuring an octagonal steel barrel and rounded French style lockplate with replaced cock. Engraved brass furniture in the familiar French style. Plain walnut stock with checkered panel around wrist. Steel components heavily pitted. Frizzed spring is broken. Brass furniture retains a mellow patina and is very good. Stock shows heavy wear and some splinters along forend.
