(A) MARTIALLY INSPECTED REMINGTON MODEL 1858 ARMY .44 PERCUSSION SINGLE ACTION REVOLVER.

One of the strongest and most desired handguns of the Civil War. Features the octagon barrel, pinched blade front sight, blue finish, case color hammer, brass trigger guard, and two piece walnut grips with sharp cartouche stamp on left panel "OWA" for Orville W. Ainsworth. There are numerous sub inspector stamps. Barrel has the "E. Remington New Model" legend. CONDITION: Excellent. The frame retains nearly all the bright blue finish showing minor handling marks, high edge wear, and toning. Cylinder has flaked to a crisp patina. Barrel retains over half the bright blue with flaking and the lever is en suite. Brass has toned. Grips are excellent. Hammer colors have darkened. Mechanically sound with a bright bore. This revolver did not see much use and is still extremely crisp.
