(A) MARTIALLY INSPECTED SPENCER MODEL 1865 LEVER ACTION SADDLE RING CARBINE
This model was only produced in 1865 and 1866 and features the Stabler cut off that was first issued on April 3, 1865 but the war ended on April 9th so most saw service during early Indian Wars. This is a standard post-Civil War carbine with round barrel, single band, blade on post front sight, standard ladder rear sight, saddle ring and bar, and walnut stocks with metal buttplate and a rear swivel. Barrel is stamped "M1865" while frame has the Spencer 1860 legend. Barrel has the original six groove rifling. There are two visible inspector cartouche stamps on left side of walnut stock that are faint and not legible. CONDITION: Fine. Barrel still retains the majority of thinning blue starting to drift and blend patina. Case colors have faded. Legends are all crisp. Stock is fine but has two hairlines on left side. Mechanically fine with a strong bore showing only minor abrasions.
