1884 Vintage Colt Single Action Army, serial number 102955. 7-1/2 inch barrel. Chambered in .45 LC. One piece walnut grips with D.F.C. inspection cartouche on right side. Marked U.S. on left side of frame. The unusual aspect of this martially inspected revolver being it is accompanied with a Colt Factory letter dated September 2009 indicating it was shipped with 25 revolvers to Simmons Hardware in ST, Louis Mo. on May 9th 1885. DFC inspection marks are found on barrel, cylinder, frame and the last 4 digits of the serial number found on the barrel, cylinder, and inside the back mortise of the grips. Bullseye ejector knob. Barrel has proper single line Colt address and 3 line patent marking. CONDITION: Very fine with a light gunmetal grey patina overall. Traces of original blue on the ejector rod housing, backstrap, triggerguard, and cylinder. Mainspring is a contemporary replacement not allowing hammer to rest properly on safety notch. Grips are full size with faint inspection cartouches. Bore is frosted with strong rifling. Chambers are good and gun function properly other than previously noted. Screws are good with only questionable screw being the cylinder pin retaining screw. -MKS-
