This beautiful Parker has all matching serial numbers and is listed by serial numbers as it currently exists in the book Parker Gun Identification by Price and Fjesad. It is a standard DH grade hammerless shotgun with no extras, a number two frame, double triggers, capped pistol grip, stock monogram plate, checkered steel skeletal buttplate. Not offset. Has mirror bores. Lockup is tight, no wiggle with forearm removed. Splinter forend with a Deeley release. The engraving of two dogs on the frame are identical to gun number 79713, engraved on 1894, and can viewed on page 284 of The Parker Story. The undersides of most Grade 3 (D) guns have game birds engraved on them. The Grade 3 gun became the D Grade in 1882, and the DH stands for hammerless. D Grade was one of the most popular high grade, as D had almost as much engraving and almost as nice wood at a lower price. The D Grade is considered the breaking line between production numbers. Five times as many D Grades were sold as all the higher grade guns put together. The skeletal buttplate can be seen on page 287 and features engraved screws. All small parts are engraved, with the exception of the frame screws. A total of 4,640 Parkers had 30" barrels, which was the most produced configuration, and 4,200 of those were produced in 12 gauge. CONDITION: The barrels have beautiful damascus patterns with no dents, a full matted rib with twin beads, Parker address on top of rib. The frame retains 85% case colors, some bright. Trigger guard retains 98% beautiful blue. The wood grain phenomenal, with a beautiful finish and sharp checkering, and is proud to metal with only a few minor nicks. This is an incredibly handsome antique D Parker, that comes in a newly made beautiful canvas and leather carry case.
