Parker Field & Sons are recorded in London with working dates circa 1841-1885 with the 233 High Holborn address was used 1841-1876. Octagonal barrel, retained by key, with brown faux Damascus twist, mushroom front sight, with "233 HOLBORN LONDON" address on top rib, view and proof marks offset, with another view mark over breech. Patent breech visible from muzzle. Brass tipped ramrod, the original, with covered jag on reverse, feeds directly into a reinforced mouth. Bolster with platinum blowout. Lock with floral scroll signed "PARKER FIELD & SONS" in center, with dressed edges. Cock with floral engraved screw and scroll en suite with lock and fish details on hammer. Trigger guard with scroll and dressed edges en suite, and an abbreviated pineapple finial. Bag grip stock with wraparound checkering and vacant silver escutcheon at wrist. "9001" serial number at butt, just below tang. CONDITION: Overall very good. Barrel with the vast majority of the Damascus twist browning, with some light mossing on left side and silvering to sharp edges. Lock is very good with crisp legends and some minor age discoloration. Stock with some handling marks and impressions throughout, but free of cracks or breaks. Mechanically fine, bore is very good. Formerly part of the Allan Klein collection.
