New England percussion fowler by J.F. Bussey made in Boston, Massachusetts circa 1850. 40" half round half octagon 20 gauge smoothbore barrel with brass bead front sight stamped "J.F. BUSSEY BOSTON". Percussion back action lock marked "ASHMORE" with single trigger control. Walnut checkered half stock with brass hardware and silver barrel escutcheon plates and thumbpiece. Comes with hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Overall good with metal fading to a plum patina with some surface corrosion. Wood has traces of original finish with usage dings and marks and slight sliver missing from forestock. Pitted bore with crisp mechanics. DLM
