Of standard configuration, except for the Springfield Arsenal experimental self-priming hammer. The barrel and lock are unmarked. CONDITION: Barrel with staining and only minor marks. Lock with surface staining. The hammer has patina en suite with lock. Unusual self-priming mechanism is untested. Nickel and bolster with some significant pitting. Walnut stock with a coat of later varnish. One minor tight crack at side nail. Brass mounts with minor marks from use. Stock has unusual series of deliberate small punch marks ahead of trigger guard finial spelling out SJ(?). Action is crisp. Bore is fair. A unique opportunity to purchase one of these extremely rare Springfield Armory experiments. From the Robert Sadler Collection.
