Remington-Beals Army Model percussion revolver made by Remington Arms Company made from 1861-1862. 8" octagon .44 caliber barrel with barrel marked "BEALS PATENT SEPT 14, 1858 / MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTON'S ILION, NY" and inspector mark "HH" at breech. 6-shot cylinder with no index notches and matching serial number "1540". Frame has remnants of "HH" inspector's marks in front of cylinder. Brass trigger guard with "W" stamping along with "W" on loading lever. Walnut 2-piece grips with no visible government inspector marks. Gun has most martial marks except on grips and is in the known serial number range of government purchased pistols. CONDITION: Metal has faded to a silvery patina with light brown freckling. Solid grips with handling wear. Good screws and mechanics; shootable bore. DLM
