According to Flayderman, Kittredge sold over 2000 of these to various states during the Civil War. They were federally ordered but not inspected. They were shipped around 1863 to Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Missouri, and Ohio and would have seen service in various theaters. Features an octagon barrel that bears both the Wesson legend and the Kittredge stamp. There is a sling swivel on lower tang and a base under barrel. Walnut stock with a rifle butt plate. There is no extractor. CONDITION: Good. There is no original finish on either barrel or frame and is now a freckled grey. Lever retains some strong original nickel. Wood is shy to metal with numerous scattered dings. Action works correctly. Bore is well defined but has some abrasions. PROVENANCE: Jim Cyr Collection.
