(A) SPECIAL ORDER HIGH CONDITION WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION RIFLE

The factory research states that this rifle was assembled on November 22, 1884 and shipped on July 1, 1885 as a standard .32 caliber octagon barrel rifle with a special order factory " Set" trigger. Standard features include the high polish bright blue frame, rust blued full octagon barrel and tube, a German silver tip dovetailed front sight, a semi-buckhorn rear sporting sight, case color lever, hammer and rifle butt plate with no trap. The walnut stock and matching forearm are proud to metal. Barrel has the standard Winchester legend as does the upper tang. CONDITION: Excellent. The frame still retains about 90% of the bright high polish blue with the usual striations blending patina. The loading gate retains nearly all its nitre blue finish. The barrel retains the majority of its rust blue finish exhibiting minor handling marks. The dust cover also retains over half of its bright blue. Even the nose cap retains the majority of its blue. The case colors have oxidized. The tube shows flashes of protected blue with balance now a smooth patina. Stocks are excellent showing minor impressions and light finish loss. Mechanically sound with a bold, lightly frosted bore.
